Kasheshe

Kasheshe has four children at Naretu Academy, all in the same grade.  Lady who is 8 years old, Sayaimet & Isiah are 7 years old and Panoi is 5 years.  All four children are in PP2 (Kindergarten). Kasheshe is a farmer with livestock.  He comes from the old philosophy and was not interested in sending his children to school.  Fortunately, he is Sabore’s neighbor.  Sabore convinced him to enroll his children at Naretu Academy and now he is raising his family with the goal of educating all of them.  The children love coming to school every day and cry when they can’t because dad doesn’t have enough funds to pay for their school fees. Kasheshe’s children like knowing they will be fed at school each day. According to our head teacher, Patricia, each of the children work very hard and are top level in their class.  They can all read and write English, and they work together helping each other with homework. Kasheshe now understands the importance of educating his children, even his girls.  He is thankful that Sabore was so persistent he enrolled his children at Naretu Academy.  It’s already made a difference in their lives. If you would like to help pay school fees for Kasheshe’s children, you can donate here.

Patricia

We are pleased to introduce you to Patricia, Naretu Academy’s Head Teacher. Patricia graduated from the local teaching college and is trained in early childhood education. She was teaching at a primary school in a nearby town when we met her. She came to interview and was quite nervous not only meeting us but about working at a brand-new school. A quick trip to the campus completely changed her mind and she quit her job the following day. Patricia was thrilled about the groundbreaking opportunity, overjoyed with the housing that’s provided as part of her compensation and elated by the ability to use her skills educating Naretu Academy’s cherished students. Her strong work habits and communication skills have helped our students achieve beyond expectations. We are grateful Patricia has become a vital part of our team.

Rampei

Rampei is a local farmer raising his family on a plot of land that is in the middle of the plains with no access to water. The closest river is a day’s journey. Rampei heard Sabore’s Well was planning to drill for water so he approached the organization with a proposal of donating 2 acres of his land for a possible well. Sabore’s Well accepted his offer and sent a surveyor to conduct a hydrological test. The test came back with strong potential and we drilled for the well. The Oldonyo Orasha well was established and is now providing clean water to more than 250 families in the area thanks to the generous offer of one man. Rampei’s wife can now spend more time raising their children and working on her beadmaking craft instead of walking all day to fetch water. Troughs were added to the well site and now Rampei’s along with other local farmers livestock are healthier as they are not consuming contaminated river water. The impact of his gift, not only for his family but for the region, has been life changing.
