The kitchen/cafeteria was completed in time for the children to be fed two meals a day. They receive porridge in the morning and a hearty lunch at noon. The students favorite lunch is on Thursday when they are served chapati and meat.
Paulo and his team have been working hard laying the foundation for the kitchen. The cement has been poured and is curing. After that, the walls can go up!!
Sabore’s recent trip to the States was so successful that upon his return to Kenya he was able to start construction on the kitchen for Naretu Academy.
The construction of Naretu Academy is in it’s final stages. The roof is completely on!! The classrooms are being painted and each door will be painted a different color. This is the back side of the school where the garden will be planted providing a variety of fruits and vegetables for the students.
Thank you to our generous donors. The boys and girls bathrooms are almost completed. We just need to hang the doors. There are 4 stalls for the boys and 4 stalls on the other side for the girls. We will be placing a holding tank on top of the building to provide water for hand washing.
Sabore’s Well is thrilled to let you know that the construction of Naretu Academy is close to completion. There are a few more metal sheets to add to the roof, installing the glass in the windows, hanging the doors, and painting the interior. Everything is expected to be finished by December 15th.
Sabore’s Well will then focus on purchasing the desks and school supplies. Naretu Academy will be welcoming it’s first students when classes begin January 7, 2019.
We’d appreciate your help to raise funds to build the teachers houses and the school kitchen. Since the teachers do not have the ability to commute, we need to provide housing for them. The kitchen is necessary to provide the children with daily lunch and a snack. You can Donate here or we’d be happy to hear from you if you have any questions, ideas or suggestions to reach this goal.
Sabore’s Well is proud to announce that the foundation trenches have been dug, posts and rope strung to outline the structure and the cornerstone laid for Naretu Academy, the preschool we are building for the Maasai community. We are so excited that construction is underway and appears to be moving along quickly. We will continue to post photos as the building progresses so we can all share the joy of seeing this project come to fruition.
